Project Spotlight: VISTA – Borgarlína Baseline Measurements

Project Spotlight: VISTA – Borgarlína Baseline Measurements, Reykjavík, Iceland 🇮🇸

Before you can measure impact, you need to know where you started. As work progresses on Borgarlína, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the Greater Reykjavík Area, VISTA is establishing the environmental baseline for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system designed to run in dedicated lanes with priority at intersections.

Working with client Betri samgöngur ohf., VISTA is conducting comprehensive baseline measurements along the planned routes and station areas ahead of construction. Using sensors from Sensorbee, the program spans three dimensions: sound, to capture current acoustic conditions; vibration, to document existing levels before construction; and dust/PM, to quantify present air quality along the corridors.

With all the data imported and managed in Oxstone, engineers will have a clear reference point for assessing environmental impact once Borgarlína becomes operational, supporting compliance with environmental and occupational health standards.

We thank VISTA, Sensorbee, and Betri Samgöngur for the collaboration in delivering rigorous, science-based monitoring for a project that will shape how the capital region moves for years to come.
